Executive Management

Christian Neumeyr
Christian Neumeyr, Dipl.Ing (ET), M.B.A., Chief Executive Officer Christian Neumeyr has over 16 years experience in the semiconductor industry. He had held executive positions at a number of leading and innovative technology companies, such as Infineon, Multilink Technology and Broadcom. Mr. Neumeyr took on several international assignments and lived for a number of years in the US, the UK and Japan, where he developed a network of contacts in various business fields. Mr. Neumeyr’s professional accomplishments include establishing and managing fast-growing and profitable business lines, expanding businesses into new markets and being a key team member of a NASDAQ IPO. Since May 2005 he has been leading the sales and marketing activities at VERTILAS GmbH, until his new appointment as VP Sales and Product Marketing. He holds a university degree in electrical engineering and an M.B.A.

Markus Ortsiefer
Markus Ortsiefer Dr. rer. nat., Director of Research & Development Dr. Markus Ortsiefer (*1970) is co-founder of VERTILAS GmbH. After obtaining his degree in physics, he held a scientific chair with the Semiconductor Technology Group at the Walter Schottky Institute from 1997 to 2001, and earned his doctorate researching long wavelength vertical resonator laser diodes. Regarding the research of new VCSELs, Dr. Ortsiefer was instrumental in the invention and implementation of innovative VCSELs to be produced by VERTILAS. Dr. Ortsiefer is a member of the German Physical Association and has published more than 70 articles in technical and popular scientific magazines and books as both author and co-author. At VERTILAS, Dr. Ortsiefer is responsible for the Production and Research & Development divisions.

Supervisory Board

Prof. Dr. Markus-Christian Amann, Chairman of the Board Professor Dr.-Ing. Markus-Christian Amann (*1950) is co-founder and chair of the advisory board at VERTILAS GMBH. With a doctorate in electrical engineering, Dr. Amann began at the research department at Siemens AG and the University of Kassel then transfered the Technical University of Munich. Prof. Amann has been head chairman of the Semiconductor Technology Group at the Walter Schottky Institute since 1997 and has been working on the development of laser diodes and their applications, along with other projects.

Prof. Dr. Gerhard Abstreiter Professor Dr. Gerhard Abstreiter (*1946) has served as a full professor of semiconductor physics at the Walter Schottky Institute of the Technical University of Munich since 1987. He researches semiconductor nano-structures and the development of new building elements for nano-electronics, opto-electronics, quantum information technology and sensory engineering.

Gert Purkert Master of Physics Gert Purkert (*1970) worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company after graduation, advising German companies with regards to strategy and management projects. As a partner of equinet Venture Partners, he is responsible for the allocation and supervision of investments in the high-tech and software divisions.

Christian Schütte Christian Schütte (*1967) is Managing Director of High Tech PrivateEquity GmbH in Düsseldorf and is also on the supervisory board of Elcos AG, IPAG AG and Cor Pumps+Compressors AG. As an engineer with a degree in electrical engineering and economics, he also worked at an engineering consulting company, was employed for four years at an international holding company for the financing of buyouts of medium-sized companies and has been working for the last two years at High Tech Private Equity GmbH, which has been focusing on equity investments in technology companies.

Dr. h.c. Werner Späth Dr. h.c. Werner Späth (*1935) was in charge of the development for the opto-semiconductor business segment at Siemens AG for many years, where he also headed up global operations at the Optical Information Technology (OIT) branch of business for over five years. After the spin-off of Infineon from Siemens AG and the integration of opto-semiconductors into Osram GmbH, he took over responsibility for directing innovation management at Osram-OS until his retirement. In addition to his participation in the German program "Optical Technologies for the 21st Century", Späth continues to play an active role on many professional boards and continues to give lectures on topics of optical technology.
